Keeping neighbors alert

Posted on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 by No comments yet

“I have to admit I haven’t followed the bear posts very closely, because our neighbors initial post did all that was needed- alerted neighbors to a possible threat…  My almost four year old is just becoming independent in the back yard and when I saw the post about the sighting on our road I told my husband right away and we have had to be more alert and more restricting, a difficult balance. We also just got back into chickens and I realize after reading the post I could do more to deter bears…

SO thank you Neighbor, for your warning, your care, and your information. Thanks to FPF for giving us another way to connect with our neighbors and ‘shout’ from the porch.”  •  Ann & Everett in Elmore

Jewelry…. lost and found around Vermont

Posted on Friday, July 7, 2017 by No comments yet

It seems a fair amount of our FPF neighbors are losing jewelry. Just as fortunate, their items are being found!

Thanks to Front Porch Forum and the person who found it, my sister is gratefully reunited with the bracelet she lost at the Moscow parade.”    • Suzanne in Stowe

I lost a necklace on the way up to, or on top of, the Ledges Trail the night of July 3. It has a reddish/orange short strand of beads with an etched silver metal centerpiece. If found, please call.”   • Marianne in Bristol

I found a berated necklace hiking down from Bristol ledges tonight. Be in touch if you know who it belongs to.” • Joe in Bristol

My necklace was found and is now back in my possession! I am feeling very grateful to Nancy for finding it, for Front Porch Forum which gave us the means to communicate with each other (although we live in the same neighborhood, I’m not sure we ever would have connected), and to everyone who replied to my post! I am thankful that we live in such a great community!”  • Betsy in Williston

“If you lost your bracelet on the college green get in touch. Found by the volleyball net.”   • Kim in Montpelier

Valuable connections are made on Front Porch Forum daily.

“I would just like to give another shout-out to FPF. This is such a great place to get stuff done. In the last two weeks, I sold my car, got a free tv, gave away our old BBQ, and found a beautiful baby swing. We’ve also met some very nice people. Thank you!”

Donating “Green” for the food shelf

Front Porch Forum members help their local food shelf by sharing the abundance in their gardens.

“Last year my garden produced an abundance of cucumbers, so I brought them to the food shelf. They were delighted every time they saw me coming with another donation so this year I planted a little extra of everything so I can share again.”  •  Barry in Morrisville

“Bravo to Marcia for sharing her exquisite dahlia bulbs and asking us lucky recipients to donate to the food shelf. Giving so others can enjoy these gorgeous flowers and only asking to help feed the needy in return. An amazing neighbor and example to follow.”
