What’s your reason for learning accordion?

Posted on Saturday, March 5, 2016 by No comments yet

“I want to learn to play the accordion for all the usual reasons. (Tired of letting the family bagpiper get all the attention. Daughter doesn’t have any reason to roll her eyes at me. Will need new occupation following post-election relocation.) If you are, or know of, an accordion teacher, please contact me.”

Frozen pipes and helpful neighbors in Waterbury

Posted on Friday, March 4, 2016 by No comments yet

“Thanks to all that responded to my plea for help with frozen pipes. So many wrote with suggestions and names to call. After calling at least ten of the numbers, we finally found a wonderful plumber. The name is ‘All in One.’ He came when he said he’d be there, got the job done and charged a fair price. We have water after 2 full weeks. Five stars to All in One.  Just goes to prove the power of FRONT PORCH FORUM.”

Sammy back home in Jericho… sleeping like a pup

130206142433-snow-golden-deuce-irpt-horizontal-large-gallery“My dog got out last night around 10:00pm. My husband is out of town and I could only look for him for about an hour with our 18-month-old. I am really worried because his tag only has my husband’s cell on it. His name is Sammy and he likes to wonder down by Raceway. Please if anyone see him if you can call or email me.”

“I’m writing to express my gratitude to Linda, who cared for my energetic 10-year-old golden retriever late last night and this morning. Additionally I also want to thank everybody who responded to my FPF post… I really appreciate being part of such an amazing community. SAMMY is exhausted from his journey and is sleeping like a little pup. Again thank you all!”

Burst water pipe in South Burlington… who ya gonna call?

Posted on Thursday, January 21, 2016 by No comments yet

Broken-Frozen-Water-Pipe-Michigan“When my water main burst, my first response, after shutting off the water, was to race upstairs and type “plumber” into the Front Porch Forum archive.  I called the guy whose name came up most often, and now he’s here now working to solve the problem!  I still don’t know the end of this story, but I’m glad my immediate reaction was to turn to FPF.”

Yestermorrow tuition scholarship turned down… almost!

Posted on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 by No comments yet

ym-sign“I am overwhelmed by all of the kind offers for rooms to rent in response to my post here two days ago. Yestermorrow offers an amazing education, but with a housing budget of $500/month, I thought I would have to turn down my tuition scholarship… especially during ski season. Luckily someone directed me to Front Porch Forum, and I’ve had about 20 responses in two days.”
