This could only happen in Vermont. The Bonsai stolen from the Fair has been returned. Apparently all the publicity about how difficult it would be to care for the tree paid off. It was found on an office desk at the Flynn, and it looked like the wiring had been loosened, possibly as attempted removal from the pot had been attempted, without knowledge of how to actually do it. A little the worse for wear, it has been returned to its owner. Would that solving bigger crimes would be so easy. To the extent that Front Porch Forum postings by all of those who spread the word contributed to the return, many thanks from the owner and the members of the Green Mountain Bonsai Society.

Thank you “My thanks to: Brian for bubble wrap; Barbara for more bubble wrap and vinca; and Maude for suggesting CVSWMD’s Additional Recyclables Collection Center in Barre as a source of as much bubble wrap as anyone could want. And thanks Front Porch Forum for providing a connection between neighbors.”

It must live outdoors, except during winter, to be healthy, and requires -40 degree cold-dormancy in the winter to stay alive – a bonsai like this is NOT a house plant. The club is asking PLEASE — whoever took this tree — find a way to return it to the owner [who is heartbroken]. If you have any knowledge about this tree, please contact us.

What a tremendous response to my inquiry for any extra basil! About a dozen gardeners got back to me, with the first response coming in even before the FPF reached my inbox. Thank you, neighbors! I think I’ll have plenty of pesto this winter. If you offered, I will get back to you in the next few days. Thanks again!”

“Our free kitchen sink was claimed within minutes of our posting. Thanks Greetings, I have been told about this little wooded area on the north end that borders Pleasant Street and Fourtney Place. It’s a 2-acre piece of land that is called Canales Woods. Looks like back in the day it was a beautiful spot and talks about a butterflies and other wildlife. I have recently visited and it is quite over grown but still salvageable I think.

I have gained new and wonderful people to a growing list of folks needing my assistance in their home. I’m available for Personal Care, laundry, shopping, housework or even travel. I am up for any task and have an extra hand available for larger projects. Together we can tackle anything, from fall cleaning and garden cutbacks, windows, painting. If there are loose ends needing to be tended before winters arrival, give a shout – I’m sure we’re able to lend a hand!”
