“Thanks to the 20(!) people who responded to my question about home energy audits. You provided several different recommendations and a few very helpful caveats, and I feel much clearer about how to proceed. This is a great example of how Front Porch Forum rocks!”

Home energy audit recommendations in Vermont
Colchester accident victim full of praise
“I was one of the drivers in a car accident in front of the Maplefields/Shaws on Route 7 in Colchester last Wednesday. There were at least four good samaritans who stopped to help, and I am so thankful for those kind people. From the professional Colchester Police staff to the compassionate ambulance crew, I am truly thankful to live in a community that takes care of each other. I know that the good samaritans may not be part of this particular Front Porch Forum, but if you are, thank you. I hope you have a peaceful new year.”

New North End Nora home now
“This is a huge thank you not only to Milia for taking such wonderful care of our dog Nora when she went missing Wednesday night, but for all of you who saw our notices on Front Porch Forum and made sure we connected. Nora came home from Lucky Puppies this afternoon. Happy New Year everyone.”

Grey Tiger now home in Stowe
“Five days, one snow storm, lots of bushwhacking, and many thoughts – our Grey Tiger, Joey, is home! Thank you to all the neighbors and Front Porch Forum– without these tips we would not have known which way to track. Hope is the meaning of the season- Happy Holidays to all!”

Hobby network blooming in South Burlington
“Does Front Porch Forum have any potential as a ‘hobby network’ resource? Something to help folks to connect with neighbors who have common hobby interests?”
• David, South Burlington neighborhood FPF, a few days ago
“So far, the offered hobbies include crocheting, knitting, unicycle riding, woodworking and furniture making, crafts, and all types of kite flying (single line, fighter, revs, and foils). Let’s add more. Also, if you know of people in other FPF South Burlington neighborhoods that might assist in spreading the word about this “hobby sharing” that would be welcome as well.”

Forgot to take meds to NYC? Panama? No problem
“I forgot some important medication in my refrigerator in Montpelier and I had left for holidays. Hannah was looking for a ride to NYC. I saw her post on Front Porch Forum and contacted her. She was able to bring the medication on the bus with her to NYC before my flight to Panama. I was reunited with my medication and I now have a new friend in Montpelier. What a wonderful community we live in!”
• Heather, Montpelier FPF
“I thought I was alone until I reached out for help… “
“O wonderful Front Porch Forum – Thank you so much! I am disabled and unable to drive or shop. After much resistance (Why? Who knows?), I posted on FPF and within 24 hours was inundated with offers of help. I couldn’t believe it! What a loving community! I reconnected with old friends and have already made new ones. And my daily aching anxiety (How do I GET THERE?) is GONE! God bless you.
“I thought I was alone until I reached out for help… and found I was surrounded by friends.
“You brought light into despair and I thank you so much.”

“She is she for whom we searched…” in Hyde Park
“Seeking an able bodied, time flexible, altruistic person who enjoys providing a helping hand to those in need. We are an elderly couple looking for someone to clean off our vehicle and shovel a short pathway from the house to the vehicle. Pay is $20 per hour.”
• Andrea, Hyde Park Front Porch Forum a couple day ago
“We have found our snow shoveler! Well qualified, flexible, a desire to assist those in need. She is she for whom we searched. Thank you FPF.”
• Andrea, Hyde Park FPF yesterday
