Hearing aid recommendation saves the day

Posted on Thursday, April 9, 2015 by No comments yet

Sarah posted on the Shelburne Front Porch Forum yesterday…

I recently posted to FPF in search of recommendations for audiologists as my hearing aid had broken and I was looking for a second opinion. My current provider had suggested a hefty fee to fix my broken hearing aid and was going so far as to say that it needed replacement. Given the costs involved I believed it was wise to seek additional advice.

I received multiple replies to my post and I met with Dr. Julie Bier of Better Living Audiology in South Burlington. Lo and behold my hearing aid did not need to be replaced and the replacement part was substantially, read significantly, less than my (now former) practitioner was quoting. Thanks to Front Porch Forum I saved a considerable amount of money and have met a wonderful new physician!

How to get your event on the family calendar

Thanks to local bookstore owner superstar Josie Leavitt for her recent Publishers Weekly blog posting.  In part…

… the family calendar is king. If an event makes it on the family calendar, then it’s very calendarlikely folks will actually come and not just think about going. The family calendar runs the lives of everyone I know…

In less than two hours last night we had upwards of 12 people RSVP for an event with parenting expert Vicki Hoefle. We did not run an ad, nor did we do a radio spot. In fact, we spent no money at all. All we did was write up a modified press release for the event and post it on our local Front Porch Forum

Business owner offers $5,000 reward on FPF for info about fire

The Stowe Reporter used the Morrisville Front Porch Forum recently to learn…

A Morristown man is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for a fire that destroyed his business last year.  But state fire investigators say the blaze wasn’t suspicious and there is no active investigation.

Most traditional media outlets in Vermont use their local FPFs for leads to stories that they investigate and report on.  We’re glad to play this role… and others.  Further, we appreciate when proper attribution is included in the piece, e.g….

He posted a notice on Front Porch Forum last week, offering a $5,000 reward in hope that someone would contact state police with information.

Stowe and the surround communities are fortunate to have the Reporter and the Record digging into local stories.
