Business owner offers $5,000 reward on FPF for info about fire

The Stowe Reporter used the Morrisville Front Porch Forum recently to learn…

A Morristown man is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for a fire that destroyed his business last year.  But state fire investigators say the blaze wasn’t suspicious and there is no active investigation.

Most traditional media outlets in Vermont use their local FPFs for leads to stories that they investigate and report on.  We’re glad to play this role… and others.  Further, we appreciate when proper attribution is included in the piece, e.g….

He posted a notice on Front Porch Forum last week, offering a $5,000 reward in hope that someone would contact state police with information.

Stowe and the surround communities are fortunate to have the Reporter and the Record digging into local stories.

Ellen posted this on her local FPF today…

Man on Railroad Bed Sunday… Our son was biking on Sunday with a friend and you were walking with your 2 black dogs between Marshfield and Plainfield on the railroad bed. Your dog bit our son and we don’t know if your dog’s rabies shots are up to date. Please call immediately. Thank you.

And her good-news follow up posting…

We immediately got a call from the dog owner who was watching FPF for a note about it!! We are so relieved and grateful to know his dog is vaccinated! Front Porch Forum saves the day!

Emergency notices on NY FPF

Posted on Wednesday, July 17, 2013 by No comments yet

Last Thursday’s extra posting on FPF (an alert to the village’s water shut-off) saved me a much inconvenience. I was preparing lots of food for a big family reunion meal. Thanks to FPF’s alert, we had drawn a goodly supply of water before the shut-off came. Although the Post Star newspaper and the hand-delivered notices came on Friday, the Argyle FPF was our first alert—and it saved me a lot of frustration.

The folks in Argyle, NY make great use of their Front Porch Forum, as shown by today’s posting above.
