Mother and three kids starting over… Middletown Springs neighbors rally to help

“I work for a nonprofit agency, through DCF. We have a single mother with three children trying to start a new life for them in a safe neighborhood. She is doing all the right things, but she has no furniture (including no beds for any of them). If anyone is willing to donate furniture, she absolutely needs 3 twin beds (or mattresses) for the children, and could use a bed for herself, 3 dressers, and a couch. If you know of anyone, who might be able to help, please pass this along ASAP, as she is moving June 1. Thank you!”

“Dear Neighbors – Thank you so much to all of you who responded to the request for furniture… The response was overwhelming. I was amazed at how kind-hearted so many people are in this community, and in Rutland County. The family’s furnishing needs were met within 24 hours. There was an outpouring of sentiments of love and compassion for this person, who still remains anonymous. Some people were willing to part with things they were still saving. Others, who didn’t have furniture offered things like clothing for the kids, etc. It has been very difficult to respond to each email that came in. Since this family’s needs were met by such a great and timely out-pouring of generosity, in the future, I may post here for others, who are in need of help (especially the children). Thank you again so much for your giving hearts!”

“Senior moment” or unreliable pocket?

“Thank you so much, Mary Jane, for posting about my missing credit card. Several people saw it and let me know, and I got it back this afternoon. Usually when I frantically comb the house for something that was in my pocket yesterday, my angst is lonely. Now,I hear from a friend who heard from a friend that my unreliable pocket’s misdemeanor was made public, and I receive kindness not only from a stranger, but friends and family en masse! Not such a lonely world after all! (See what I did there where I shifted blame to my long-suffering pocket instead of to a ‘senior moment?’ Smooth right?)”
